Over Labor Day weekend, we headed to Copper Mountain for "Copper Country." They had a country music festival with lots of family activities. We really didn't know what to expect, but it ended up being one of the most fun times we've had in Colorado so far. They let people ride the ski lift for FREE!!! So, of course we took advantage of that!
We walked around at the top of the mountain a little bit, and saw several foxes. They were not impressed to see us!
After our trip up (and down) the mountain, we ate lunch while listening to bands play. It was so fun!
Carter took the following picture. We all showed our support for OU since it was the first game!
After lunch we shopped some great sales and found North Face clothing and hiking shoes for half price! Then, we headed over to the kid's area. Carter got to feed goats at the petting zoo, and paint on a large painting.
We even saw what looked like a real mountain man! He had a donkey with a pack, a mangy dog and all!
This past weekend we were blessed to have Philip's parents come visit us! It's so fun to have visitors to share this beautiful state and all the fun activities it has to offer. On Sunday, we took Ron & Jean Ann to the Original Pancake House (best breakfast place ever!). Then, we headed into Vail. I'd never been to Vail, and it was so fun! There is so much to do there without even skiing. We enjoyed the Farmer's Market, food, and music.
Then we went camping at Turquoise Lake. We found that most campgrounds close after Labor Day, but still found a beautiful site. Since most places were closed, there weren't many other people camping.
On Monday morning, we packed up and went hiking up to Timberline Lake. The hike wasn't nearly as difficult as the one a few weeks ago, and the scenery at the top was MUCH more beautiful!!!
We stopped, ate a snack, and rested for a while. Carter even got to catch a fish.
It was such a fun weekend!
